McHenry County Democrats have slated a Woodstock lawyer to run for state’s attorney in November.

Tom Cynor, 39, a former Democratic chairman in McHenry County, was nominated at a party meeting Wednesday night. He has 14 years of litigation experience and was a prosecutor in Downstate Illinois.

Cynor, a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, is a research attorney for McHenry County Circuit Court and lives in Woodstock with his wife and two children.

He said he expects the state’s attorney’s job primarily to be an administrative position.

Cynor said the high turnover under Republican State’s Atty. Louis Bianchi has resulted in low morale and inefficiency.

“There is an indication that people want change,” he said.

McHenry’s Democratic Central Committee also slated candidates for three other county offices on the Nov. 4 ballot: Kerry Julian, 45, of Woodstock, for county auditor, and Anita Harmon, 40, and Jill Mawhinney, 60, both of Crystal Lake, for County Board seats in District 2.
